The Nethercutt Collection and Museum

The Nethercutt Collection and Museum are in Sylmar, CA, about 26 miles North of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. We have arranged for a party of up to 50 people for a guided tour at 1:30 PM, Saturday, July 29, 2017. That's the largest number that they will book for one group. We must check in at 1:15 PM and it's a 50-55 minute drive, so buses will leave the hotel no later than 12:15 PM.

J.B. Nethercutt (1913-2004) was the nephew of Merle Nethercutt Norman. He dropped out of Cal Tech to help build up her cosmetics company. He then, and now his son Jack, with their wives, led Merle Norman Cosmetics. J.B. and his cars had won the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance more times than any other individual.

The collection and museum owns over 150 cars. Here are some the best in the collection.

The collection has a whole floor of automatic music instruments, nickelodeons, topped off with a Mighty Wurlitzer theater organ.

Here is a 1932 Maybach Zeppelin DS8 Convertible Sedan with a 8.0 L (486 cubic inch) V12 engine. This car cost $12,000 when new in the height of the depression.

Here is a Duesenberg Model SJ widely known as the “Twenty Grand,” reflecting its selling price. This supercharged Duesenberg was displayed at the Century of Progress (Chicago World's Fair of 1933-34). This graceful one-off design is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful Duesenbergs built.
It's a Duesey! $20,000 was a lot of money in 1933.

Here's some of the cars in the Nethercutt Museum.

If that's not enough, the museum has a 1937 Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson 4-6-4 steam locomotive and the 1912 Pullman Private Car #100 California.
